It was cultivated for centuries in monastery gardens as a medicinal plant and its healing effects for ailments such as respiratory diseases, insect bites and inflammation of the mouth and throat quickly become known. Wild mallow (Malva sylvestris) belongs to the mallow family. The plant can reach a height of up to 1.4m, and blooms from May to September.
