Care for combination skin: all you need to know
The care of a typical combination skin is often like a tightrope act: While the oily skin areas need clarifying, pore-refining care, the "normal" skin areas enjoy light moisturising care that provides sufficient skin protection. If the skin on the cheeks is very dry and flaky, extensive care would even make sense. Your beauty routine is therefore a little more complicated: it has to fulfil two skin wishes at once. We'll tell you how it can be done.
These are the characteristics of combination skin
In combination skin, the sebum glands are overactive, especially in the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin). The cheeks, temples and eyes tend to consist of normal or dry skin areas. Typical combination skin shows enlarged pores (mainly in the T-zone), an increased oily sheen and possible impurities. At the same time, the skin on the cheeks and sides can be normal to dry (with typical features such as feelings of tension, redness and irritation).
Balancing care
Combination skin enjoys antibacterial, clarifying care on the one hand and a large portion of moisture and rich skin protection on the other. In order to meet this double requirement, you need a sure instinct and products with finely balanced, light recipes, in other words: lots of moisture, little fat. In the T-zone, rich care only causes a greater excess of fat, which promotes the development of further impurities. On the other hand, a strong mattifying cream is disadvantageous for the dry areas of the skin, as too little moisture is then supplied to them. Water-in-oil emulsions that are quickly absorbed and do not leave an oily film on your skin are ideal. Little trick:
Lavera natural cosmetics research has developed balancing facial care products with the help of high-quality, skin-type-appropriate organic ingredients that are specifically aimed at combination skin. They offer a balanced ratio of light moisturisers and clarifying, antibacterial ingredients. Find out in the next paragraph what a perfectly coordinated care program for combination skin can look like.
Facial cleansing? Thorough, but still gentle
While the T-zone usually produces too much skin oil, the dry cheek areas tend to have too little fat. This is a major challenge when it comes to facial cleansing. Finding the ideal cleansing products and routines here is not that easy. So that the combination skin is not cleaned too much and too aggressively, we recommend that you go for a thorough but mild cleansing in the morning and in the evening. The care goal here is clearly a refined and matt complexion. A cleansing gel that thoroughly removes dirt and make-up from your skin, but at the same time provides valuable moisture, is an absolute must-have for this skin type. The second step is a clarifying, slightly degreasing facial toner, which you ideally only apply to the greasy T-zone. It can help your skin
Beauty tip: pore-refining peeling
For deep cleansing, we recommend the clarifying peeling with jojoba peeling bodies. Used once or twice a week, it removes excess sebum and barely noticeable dirt that has built up in your pores. When using it, be careful not to rub the peeling grains too intensively on the skin and not to use the peeling too often - this could irritate your skin and, in the worst case, even stimulate sebum production!
Short routine
In the morning
During the day, the skin should be supplied with sufficient moisture and free radicals should be neutralized.
Step 1: A mild but thorough cleaning with a (pore-refining) cleaning gel or foam is ideal
Step 2: Clarifying toner clears the complexion and prepares the skin for step 3
Step 3: Skin balancing, mattifying cream, fluid or serum
During the day
Use a loose powder or blotting paper to slightly mattify a shiny complexion.
in the evening
At night, the skin can absorb and process more care substances - cream with regenerating ingredients and a lot of moisture is ideal here (supports cell renewal).
At a glance
That needs combination skin
Care goals: regulate sebum function, balance fat and moisture balance
Thorough, but not too aggressive cleaning
Use an exfoliant once a week
Use a clarifying mask once a week
Use lukewarm water - water that is too hot stresses the dry areas too much and removes moisture from them!
Also use light, moisturizing textures for make-up so as not to "overload" the skin too much.
